Variations on a Theme

8 Nov

After the colors were picked, I realized many people talk about wedding themes. To be honest, I never understood why I would have to have one. I mean, I get why people who do have a theme use it and carry it through their event. I just never really thought that would be me.

So I took our colors and gleefully started buying things for the wedding. We picked our STDs (*giggle*) and our cake topper. I was having fun. Then I noticed something. My favorite purchases so far all had something in common. Let’s see if you can figure it out…

Our Save the Date

Our lovely Save the Dates (just couldn't type that acronym again!)

My monkeys!

My (I mean OUR) monkeys!

Do you see it? If not, then take a look at what I bought once I saw it…

Our Monogram

You see it now, I know you do. Hearts! Hearts and our initials! So now I’m at the very least centering our paper products around this. Currently I’m planning to use it on our programs, on our invitation envelopes, on water bottle labels, and maybe a few other places I haven’t thought of yet.

So it’s not a theme like the 50s or super cool vintage. But now it’s our theme and I love it.

Does your wedding have a theme?

I didn’t think we had a theme either… but one is emerging, we are going with a vintage garden theme, complete with a potting bench set up as a cigar bar, galvanized metal buckets for flowers and a vintage metal box for the cards. We will be using an old shutter to hold the escort cards and instead of programs we are going to write on the glass of an old window.

See that’s way cooler than my hearts. 😉 Sounds like your wedding will be gorgeous!

Your will be beautiful too! I am jealous that you have a monogram and e-pictures. See we all have wedding envy.
