Mooning with my Honey – Part 2

20 Jun

So,aside from relaxing, we did actually do some cool stuff on our honeymoon. I mean, we were in Costa Rica after all!

Our second day there we went on a hiking and ziplining tour. When we showed up for the early tour there was only one other couple going with us… our friends from the resort! (Psssst! Hi there guys!) Instead of telling you about it, let me just show you.

Loxes all geared up and ready to go!

SlothNot Mrs. Sloth, but definitely a sloth!

Okay okay, so I shouldn’t have rotated the camera at the end there. But otherwise, how awesome is that!

Stuck in a tree with our new friends!Look, it’s Weddingbee in a tree! Or part of the hive at least. 😉

In the coming days we hiked around waterfalls.

Walked on beaches…

Listened to monkeys (those are seriously monkeys, not dogs. Howler monkeys!)…

Went horseback riding…

And ate fantastic food.

Yeah, that sound is pouring rain. It didn’t do that much on our honeymoon but the day we left that’s what we woke up to. But, we got home safe and sound so that I could make it here to tell you all about our wedding! And I promise, that bit is next. 🙂

So, this turned out to be our favorite vacation so far. What is your favorite vacation?

Mooning with my Honey – Part 1

Well my loves, recap time is almost upon us. But while I sort through my pictures and make sense of all of this, I thought you might like to know what we did when it was all over.

Our wedding ended at 6:30 on a Sunday evening. We stayed that night at the B&B where it was held. And on Monday, we hurried home to pack and prepare for our Costa Rican honeymoon!

This was a big adventure for both of us. I had not traveled out of the country since I went to St. Lucia in 2005, and Mr. Lox hadn’t ventured outside our borders since his days as an enlisted man. So he was sporting a sparkling new passport and we both had our sense of adventure with us. Which was good, because it needed to get us through two 3.5 hour flights before we would land in San Jose, Costa Rica.

After getting off our plane, we hopped a ride to the rental car place and grabbed our ride… a Toyota Rav 4, before setting off on a 3.5ish hour drive to our final destination.

We saw things like this…

Highway PictureWhat’s that on either side of us? Crazy yet purposefully planted forests of palm trees. See?

Palm Tree ForestAfter roughly three or so hours of driving (and being passed on the left on a 2 lane highway regardless of signs or laws of traffic), we reached the road which would lead us up to the resort. Now, I didn’t take a video this first day so I’m going to talk you through this. Basically, imagine the absolute worst road you’ve ever driven on. Got it? I’m pretty sure it was worse than that. We were eternally grateful we had gotten there in daylight as we drove up the steep, unpaved, and entirely unmarked road. We were also rather proud of ourselves for handling it so well. But eventually, we knew we’d reached Oxygen Jungle Villas when we saw this:

Now, let me tell you how the power of Weddingbee followed me on my honeymoon. I was ratty, and tired, and really not looking my best. But who cares right? I’m how many miles from home after all? Right. As we sat down in the resort to drink our complimentary welcome cocktail I heard a voice behind me say…..

“This might be a weird question, but do you blog for Weddingbee?”

No, I’m not kidding. And yes, she’s reading right now. Even in the middle of Central America, there was Weddingbee. And it was pretty darn cool. Not because I’m so famous (Ha! I can’t even think about that without giggling.) But because she was pretty awesome and I got to make a new friend. Even in Costa Rica on our honeymoon. She and her husband are a great couple and you’ll be seeing them later on.

For now, on to our room! I mean, how could you not be in paradise with a room like this?

Our first day we decided to do not much at all. After all, we’d just finished planning and executing what felt like a huge event. And then there was the traveling and such. So we were worn out. That’s why we spent pretty much the entire day here. But not before breakfast! (Where we met another lovely couple and found out the wife is also another friend of the hive! Let’s just say I thought about you all a lot while we were on our honeymoon. Isn’t that sweet? Anyway, back to the recapping…)

I even have proof!
